It is amazing what the Lord can do.” Tom Truszinski, Center Director, MnTc Rochester Campus Today we had the opportunity to come together as a church family and as a community to lean into a subject that affects hundreds of thousands of people every minute of every day – addiction. Accompanied by Center Director Tom Truszinski, members of the MN Adult and Teen Challenge Choir, led us in worship music and shared their stories of addiction, recovery and faith. Since 1983, Mn Adult & Teen Challenge has been restoring hope to people struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. The Rochester Campus opened in 2014, offering effective and affordable residential Licensed Treatment and faith-based Long-Term Recovery in both their Men’s and Women’s Centers. MnTC also offers extensive prevention and transitional/aftercare services. Truszinski explains that initially, or short term, the program is “a lot like an emergency room. It’s men and women coming off over doses, out of detox, off the streets or from jail or prison. The short-term program acts as a stabilizing force in their life to allow them to be amenable for treatment and services. We really try to address their mental health issues and concerns. So many of these men and women have triggers in their head in their heart from their past that continually cause them to self-medicate.” He goes on to say that about 52% are transferring from the short-term to the long-term 13-month residential program. The focus of this program is to bring structure and foundation into their lives while addressing their mental health and faith needs. “The program is kind of a one-two punch of faith and the foundations we have in mental health that teach our clients how to live out a different life.” Learn more: https://www.mntc.org/about/

To those who gave birth this year to their first child—we celebrate with you To those who lost a child this year – we weep with you. To those who are in the trenches with little ones and proudly wear the badges of food stains every single day – we appreciate you. To those who experienced loss through miscarriage, failed adoptions, or a child running away—we hurt with you. To those who walk the hard path of infertility, fraught with pokes, prods, tears, and disappointment - Forgive us when we say foolish things. We don’t mean to make this harder than it is. – we desire to walk with you. To those who foster, mentor, and are spiritual mothers – we need you. To those who have warm and close relationships with your children – we honor you! To those who carry disappointment, heartache, and have distance from your children – we sit and wait with you. To those who lost their mothers this year – we grieve with you. To those who experienced abuse at the hands of your own mother – we acknowledge your experience and offer comfort to you. To those who have already lived through pregnancy tests, driving tests, medical tests, and the overall “testing” of motherhood – we are better for knowing you. To those who are single and long to be married and mother children of your own – we ache with you. To those who are walking the complex path of being a step-parent,– we applaud you. To those who will have emptier nests in the upcoming year – we are saddened with you or rejoice with you, whichever the case may be ☺ To those who selflessly placed children up for adoption yet still hold them in your heart — we commend you. And to those who are pregnant right now, whether expected or surprising –we anticipate this new life with you. On this day, we celebrate ALL of you.
